AMCHAM-MACEE SCHOLARSHIP 2011

The American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) are pleased to announce the competition for the AMCHAM-MACEE 2011 Scholarship. AMCHAM created a scholarship endowment program in 1998 to benefit deserving Malaysian students planning to pursue their undergraduate studies in the United States. The AMCHAM-MACEE 2011 Scholarship awards a US$20,000 scholarship, covering four years of undergraduate study in the United States ($5000.00/year renewable for four years subject to meeting the specified conditions). The scholarship is open to qualified Malaysian students who are accepted to an accredited university in the United States for four years of study culminating in a Bachelors degree. The student must be accepted for Fall semester, 2011. Transfer students are not eligible for this scholarship.

ELGIBILITY
  • Malaysian Students who have completed SPM, O Levels, STPM or A Levels.
  • Secondary school results must be translated into English, certified as ta true copy and submitted with the application.
  • TOEFL and SAT scores must be submitted
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • Certified copy of IC or Malaysian Passport.
  • Prior acceptance into U.S. university/college.
  • Certified copy of acceptance letter or certified copy of I-20 from U.S. university/college.
SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES

The application for admission and all supporting documents must be received by May 30, 2011, to be considered for the Fall 2011 award. All documents must be official. You may mail them or hand-deliver them to MACEE.

SHELL SCHOLARSHIP 2011

The scholarship is open to all Malaysians planning to pursue higher education in both local and overseas institutions of higher learning. Disabled students are encouraged to apply.

OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIPS

This scholarship will be offered to students who have planned to pursue the following field of study in the United Kingdom and United States only :

Preferred Degree Discipline

  • Geosciences (Geology, Geochemistry and Physics)
  • Engineering (Petroleum, Electrical, Civil and Mechanical)

Eligibility

  • Strong leadership skills qualities and active participation in extracurricular activities such as societies and clubs, sports, etc.
  • Not presently holding other scholarship/loans.
  • Disabled Identification Card certified by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (where applicable)
  • Consistently strong academic achievements as follows:

    For foundation studies in local institutions
    - Strong academic results in the recent SPM examination

    For Undergraduate studies
    - Strong academic results in the STPM or A-Levels
    - Minimum of 3.5 CGPA at Matriculation/ Diploma level

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS
This scholarship is open to students who will be undertaking full time first degree at Malaysian and JPA approved international universities based in Malaysia.

  • Any Discipline

Applications may be submitted based on the latest semester results (for Matriculation, Diploma and ‘A’ Levels students) or trial examination results (for SPM/STPM students).

MNRB SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2011

MNRB SCHOLARSHIP FUND, a fund established by MNRB HOLDINGS BERHAD (a Company listed on the Main Board of the Bursa Malaysia and a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB)), invites scholarship applications from suitably qualified young Malaysians who have successfully completed their SPM/STPM and are planning to pursue a Matriculation/Foundation, Diploma, First Degree or Professional course on a full-time basis at any recognized institution of higher learning.

Fields of Study

  • Actuarial Science (Professional courses)
  • Risk Management (Matriculation/ foundation, diploma, bachelor degree programme)
  • Insurance (Matriculation/ foundation, diploma, bachelor degree programme)

Value Of Awards

  • Tuition fees based on actual for students pursuing studies at public universities or colleges and a maximum of RM8,000.00 per annum for students pursuing studies at private universities or colleges.
  • Allowance of RM8,000.00 per year for local Matriculation/Foundation or Diploma courses and RM10,000.00 per year for First Degree or Professional courses.
  • For professional course, subsistence allowance, any related allowance such as membership allowance, examination allowance will be paid.

A bonding period is attached to the scholarship, where the recipient may be required to serve the MNRB Group or any of the companies designated by the Trustees of the MNRB Scholarship Fund.

Selection Criteria

Insurance & Risk Management

  • Should be below 23 years of age
  • Should have obtained at least grade A2 in a minimum of 6 subjects inclusive of English, Mathematics and Science in the SPM examination results; OR
  • Should obtained at least 3As and pass the General Paper at the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examination; OR
  • Should have obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 for Matriculation, Diploma or Degree

Actuarial Science – Professional Course

  • Should be below 26 years of age
  • Holds a bachelor degree in actuarial science or actuarial science management
  • Single

Additional Requirement

  • Must write a 1-page essay (in English and on a separate sheet of paper) describing reasons for applying for the scholarship, benefit from the course of study including education and career plans
  • Preference will be given to those active in co-curricular activities
  • Must not be a recipient of a scholarship/loan/financial assistance from any other organisation

TRIAL SPM/STPM RESULTS

The offer is subject to the applicants gaining entry into recognized local or overseas institutes of higher learning to pursue the approved courses

Candidates with TRIAL SPM/STPM RESULTS, who meet the above mentioned selection criteria are also encouraged to apply for the scholarship. Selected candidates will be given provisional offer of the scholarship to pursue the approved courses subject to the variance between the actual results and the trial results being within acceptable range.
